Prospects for strengthening friendship and cooperation between Central Asian states and China discussed in Samarkand
On April 2, this year, a symposium titled “Central Asia – China” was held in Samarkand. The event was attended by Nizomiddin Ziyamov, the Chief Research Fellow of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA).

The event was organized by the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRS) with the support of the China Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD).

The forum featured presentations by experts from leading think tanks, as well as researchers from academic institutions in Central Asian countries and China.

During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation, including economic and investment engagement, development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and strengthening human capital.

Ziyamov emphasized the strategic nature of relations between Central Asian countries and China, outlining new stages and horizons for their future development. It was noted that today the countries of the region and China are forming a sustainable model of mutually beneficial relations based on the alignment of national development strategies.

It was highlighted that in the context of a multipolar world and growing economic interdependence, the development of coordinated mechanisms of interaction is of critical importance.

Following the conference, participants noted the high potential of bilateral and multilateral cooperation formats for strengthening interregional connectivity and developing sustainable mechanisms of cooperation.

The China Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD) under the State Council of the People’s Republic of China is a leading state think tank established in 2017 at the initiative of Xi Jinping.

Its core mission is to systematize China’s reform experience and adapt it for international dialogue on sustainable development.

The Center serves as a key intellectual hub for promoting the UN 2030 Agenda and the Global Development Initiative, providing expert support for China’s external economic policy.
