IICA and Sasakawa Peace Foundation Identify Prospective Areas of Cooperation
On the sidelines of the inaugural Central Asia–Japan Think Tank Forum, a meeting was held between Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA), and Yuji Mori and Kenta Aoki, representatives of the Center for Mediation Support of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.

The parties discussed prospects for establishing cooperation between IICA and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, with a particular focus on expert dialogue on the peaceful development, stability, and socio-economic development of Afghanistan.

Javlon Vakhabov noted that Afghanistan’s sustainable development requires strengthening mutual trust, maintaining consistent dialogue, and bringing together the expertise and experience of regional and international partners. He reaffirmed IICA’s readiness to facilitate the development of relevant expert contacts.

Representatives of the Japanese foundation expressed their interest in cooperation with IICA and in exchanging experience in mediation and peaceful conflict resolution. The sides also considered the possibility of establishing a multilateral expert platform involving research institutions from Central Asia, Japan, and other countries.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working-level consultations and jointly explore the organization of expert events on Afghanistan-related issues.
