The IICA hosts meeting with experts of the China Institute of International Studies
The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted a meeting with a delegation from the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), led by Vice President Liu Qing.

The discussions focused on the current dynamics and long-term prospects of Uzbek-Chinese cooperation, alongside a substantive exchange of views on key regional and international developments.

Managing Director of the IICA Amb.Javlon Vakhabov noted that Uzbekistan–Chinese relations are a vivid example of pragmatic partnership that contributes to the sustainable development of both countries. In this context, close contacts at the expert level make an important contribution to strengthening political dialogue, generating new ideas and launching promising joint initiatives.

Vice President Liu Qing underlined that the trust-based relationship and sustained high-level engagement between the leaders of the two countries have played a pivotal role in elevating bilateral ties to a qualitatively new level.

In this context, Uzbekistan’s policy of openness and good-neighbourliness has further reinforced mutual trust across Central Asian states and laid a solid foundation for the advancement of regional cooperation.

Li Ziguo, Director of the Department for European-Central Asian Studies at the CIIS, emphasized that the governance principle promoted by President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev—“state institutions must serve the people”—is fully in line with Beijing’s priorities. The active pursuit by Uzbekistan and China of reforms aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of the population lays a solid foundation for pragmatic and mutually beneficial partnership.

Chinese experts also placed particular emphasis on the need to deepen engagement between think tanks and educational institutions of the two countries, as well as to broaden cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Particular attention was drawn to the key role of the “Central Asia–China” format in fostering regional cooperation. Among the priority tasks within this mechanism are the maintenance of close contacts and the deepening of cooperation in such areas as transport, mineral resource development, innovative technologies, environmental protection, and water management.

At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to expand practical cooperation and implement joint projects, including mutual visits and expert discussions within bilateral cooperation and multilateral platforms.
